BETTER TOGETHER – Part 1
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” -Genesis 2:18 (NLT)
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ…Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part… But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it… . So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. -1 Corinthians 12:12-27 (NLT)
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?…Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? -1 Corinthians 6:19; 3:16 (NLT)
IN WHAT WAY DO WE NEED EACH OTHER?
1. – when we encourage and honor each other.
… take delight in honoring each other. -Romans 12:10b (NLT)
2. – that comes from being with people.
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. -Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed… -James 5:16 (NLT)
3. – we can do more together than individually.
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? -Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 (NLT)
4. – express love to each other.
Love each other with genuine affection… -Romans 12:10a (NLT)
5. – without judgment or condemnation.
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. -Romans 15:7 (NIV)
Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. -Romans 14:1 (NLT)
(Jesus) I give you a new command: Love each other. You must love each other as I have loved you. -John 13:34 (NCV)
How wonderful and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in harmony! -Psalm 133:1 (NLT)
WE ARE BETTER WHEN WE ARE TOGETHER!
