I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world
Matthew 8:23–27 (NKJV):
Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
He’s already been where you’re going
- The future they were going to was already in GOD’s hands
- Trust is not hoping for the best outcome, trust is believing in the God of the outcome.
Peace changes your perspective
- Peace is not the absences of the storm, it is the presence of Jesus in the boat
- Peace isn’t just a state of mind, it’s a mind stayed on him!
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Isaiah 26:3 says,
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
The storm is not bigger than my purpose1
John 14:4
Greater is he that is within me, than he that is in the world!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future.
Psalm 121:4 (ESV)
Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalm 23:4 (ESV)
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
