November 19, 2023 / Bethesda ChurchHebrews 2:1
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
Deuteronomy 21:15 (NLT)
Suppose a man has two wives, but he loves one and not the other, and both have given him sons. And suppose the firstborn son is the son of the wife he does not love. 16 When the man divides his inheritance, he may not give the larger inheritance to his younger son, the son of the wife he loves, as if he were the firstborn son. 17 He must recognize the rights of his oldest son, the son of the wife he does not love, by giving him a double portion. He is the first son of his father’s virility, and the rights of the firstborn belong to him.”
JESUS came as a firstborn.
Romans 8:29 (NLT)
would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
In Jesus, WE ARE first born.
Hebrews 12:23 says
we are the ‘church of the firstborn’.
Matthew 14:16 (NLT)
But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.” 17 “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!” they answered. 18 “Bring them here,” he said. 19 Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. 20 They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers.

1 Peter 5:1 (TLB)
Fellow elders, this is my plea to you: 2 Feed the flock of God; care for it willingly, not grudgingly; not for what you will get out of it but because you are eager to serve the Lord.
4. Give and expect God to do GREAT THINGS.
