THE GREAT COMMISSION

Heart for the Series:
1.  We believe IN Jesus and we believe ABOUT Jesus
2. We believe TOGETHER as a local body of believers

ARTICLE X — STATEMENT OF FAITH
“We believe and accept the following statements as essentials for the unity and practice of the members of this church:”

10. THE GREAT COMMISSION
(Matthew 9:36-38; 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47-48; Acts 1:8; 8:1, 4; Romans 10:13-15; I Corinthians 9:13-14)

We believe that our Lord commanded us to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations, and that every believer is to be a witness for Jesus Christ, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit; and  that we are responsible to pray for, support, and send missionaries into all the world.

We believe in unity three TRUTHS
regarding The Great Commission:

Truth #1:We believe that our Lord commanded us to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations,”

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38 ESV

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 ESV

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15 ESV

“And that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things.” Luke 24:47-48 ESV

Truth #2: and that every believer is to be a witness for Jesus Christ, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit;”

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 ESV

And Saul approved of his execution. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. Acts 8:1 ESV

Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word. Acts 8:4 ESV

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:13-15 ESV

Truth #3:and that we are responsible to pray for, support, and send missionaries into all the world.

Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? 14 In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.  1 Corinthians 9:13-14 ESV
