BLESSED #5 MERCIFUL

FEB 13/14, 2021

MATTHEW 5:1-11  (NIV84)

1 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them, saying:
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

EPHESIANS 2:4-5 (NLT)

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

THOUGHT #2:
You should be merciful because you are going to need more mercy in the future!

JAMES 2:13 (NLT)

There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.r theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

THOUGHT #3:
You should be merciful because showing mercy makes you happy!

MATTHEW 5:7 (NIV84)

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”

#1 — You show mercy when you are patient with people and their faults!

EPHESIANS 4:1-2 (NLT)

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.”

#2 — You show mercy when you are a blessing to those that hurt you!

LUKE 6:35-36 (NIV84)

“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

#3 — You show mercy when you care about those who don’t know Jesus or those that are confused about teachings of Jesus!

JUDE 22-23 (NIV84)
