YOU ARE THE SALT & LIGHT OF YOUR FAMILY  
Matthew 5:13

In those days Israel had no king so everyone did what was right in their own eyes.  Judges 21:25 

“I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.”   John 17:15 

“You are the salt of the earth…”   Matthew 5:13

You are the salt of your family!

#1­—Salt was very valuable in biblical days!
You influence your family when you treat them like they are valuable!

God said, “Let us make human beings in our image and likeness.”   Genesis 1:26-27 (NCV)

For we are God’s masterpiece.   Ephesians 2:10

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.   Romans 5:8

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”   Matthew 7:12

#2—Salt adds flavor to food. It makes food more enjoyable to eat!
You influence your family (and those around you) when you’re enjoyable to be around! 

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you…”   Matthew 7:12

“…love your neighbor as yourself”   Matthew 19:19

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourself.   Romans 12:10

Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.   Philippians 2:4

“You are the salt of the earth (your family).” ­—Jesus

#3—Salt is white–white represents purity in the Bible.
You influence your family (and those around you) when you live in a holy way in front of them!

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.   James 1:27

…offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God…   Romans 12:1-3

…you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.   1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Be holy, because I am holy.   1 Peter 1:13-16

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.  1 Timothy 4:12

#4—Salt is a preservative, it keeps things from spoiling.
You influence your family (and those around you) when you act as a preservative to keep them from moral decay!   

You need salt in your life!
Your spouse needs salt in their life!
Your kids need salt in their lives!
Your (actual) neighbor needs salt in their life!
