GRACE TRANSFORMS — WIN (pt. 2)
Luke 5:27-32

NAME: We want to reach this Big Central Valley with the Grace of Jesus Christ in Community with His Church.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Church is to bring glory to God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)

MISSION: Love God, Love People, Make Disciples.  Matthew 22:37-39; 28:18-20 (ESV)

VISION: Love your [actual] neighbor. This means every member of the Body of Christ, being led by the power of the Holy Spirit of God, evangelizing and discipling our [actual] neighbors, and leading them to do the same.

Grace Transforms residents of earth into
Citizens of Heaven who WIN with Jesus Christ.  

Seven PARTS to the story of Jesus Christ winning Levi:
A clear example of how Jesus wins a person for the kingdom of Heaven.

PART 1­­—Jesus NOTICED Levi.

After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth.  Luke 5:27 (ESV)  
Am I NOTICING my actual neighbor?

PART 2­­—Jesus INVITED Levi.

And he said to him, “Follow me.”  Luke 5:27 (ESV)  
Am I INVITING my actual neighbor?

PART 3­­—Jesus WELCOMED Levi.

And leaving everything, he rose and followed him.  Luke 5:28 (ESV)  
Am I WELCOMING my actual neighbor?

PART 4­­—Jesus INCLUDED Levi’s friends.

And Levi made him a great feast in his house, and there was a large company of tax collectors and others reclining at table with them.  Luke 5:29 (ESV)  
Am I INCLUDING my actual neighbor’s friends?

PART 5­­—Jesus didn’t let the REPUTATION of Levi stop Him.

And the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”  Luke 5:30 (ESV)  
Am I letting the REPUTATION of my actual neighbor stop me?

PART 6­­—Jesus knew Levi and his friends needed HEALING.

And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  Luke 5:31 (ESV)  
Am I aware that my actual neighbor needs HEALING?

PART 7­­—Jesus shared the GOSPEL with Levi and his friends.

“I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”  Luke 5:32 (ESV)  
Am I sharing the GOSPEL with my actual neighbor?

Grace Transforms residents of earth into
Citizens of Heaven who WIN with Jesus Christ.  

“Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 (ESV)

What is the story like in my actual NEIGHBORHOOD?
