“Hanging” on the words of Jesus!
And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, saying to them, “It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers.”
And He was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy Him, but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on His words. Luke 19:45-48 ESV
Are we “hanging on the words of Jesus” today? His Word is alive, spiritual, and it has the power to convert the soul! The B-I-B-L-E, that’s the book for me!
Yet less than 10% of believers read their Bibles daily.
Our prayer for us today would be that His WORD (the Bible) will captivate us, strengthen us, and renew us by:
1. USING the WORD in CONVERSATION!
All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV
2. STUDY the WORD with EXPECTATIONS!
I will take my stand at my watch post and station myself in the tower and look out to see what He will say to me, and I will answer concerning my complaint.
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision and make it plain on the tablets so he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:1-2 ESV
3. READ the WORD with a DESIRE to OBEY!
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15 KJV
4. READ the WORD CONSISTENTLY!
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16 ESV
