3 UNEXPECTED WAYS GOD WORKS IN OUR LIVES

Luke 8:22-25

One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” Luke 8:22 ESV

And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. Matthew 8:23 ESV

And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. Mark 4:36 ESV

So they set out, 23 and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. Luke 8:22-23 ESV

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. Mark 4:37 ESV

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. Matthew 8:24 ESV

Unexpected Way #1:
The Lord God Almighty guides us by His Word into a STORM, already knowing the outcome.

And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Luke 8:24 ESV

And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” Matthew 8:25 ESV

But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Mark 4:38 ESV

Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”? 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:27-28 ESV 

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. Luke 8:24 ESV

Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26 ESV

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39 ESV

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 29 He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:28-29 ESV

“Peace! Be still!” – Jesus 

Unexpected Way #2:
God speaks His PEACE into our chaos. 

He said to them, “Where is your faith?” Luke 8:25 ESV

And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Matthew 8:26 ESV

He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” Mark 4:40 ESV 

Unexpected Way #3:
God saves us by our FAITH in Him.

And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” Luke 8:25 ESV

And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” Matthew 8:27 ESV

And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” Mark 4:41 ESV

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. Proverbs 9:10 ESV

We are to WORSHIP Jesus Christ the Son of God.
