OUR MISSION

MATTHEW 28:16-19 (ESV)  
Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples…”

THREE BASIC FACTS ABOUT DISCIPLES OF JESUS:

FACT #1­—Disciples of Jesus LOVE GOD

MATTHEW 22:34-38 (ESV) 
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment.”  

1 JOHN 4:19 (ESV) 
We love because he first loved us. 

FACT #2­—Disciples of Jesus LOVE PEOPLE

MATTHEW 22:39-40 (ESV) 
“And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”   

LUKE 10:36-37 (ESV) 
“Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”  

FACT #3­—Disciples of Jesus MAKE DISCIPLES

MATTHEW 28:19-20 (ESV)  
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” 

1 CORINTHIANS 9:19, 22-23 (ESV) 
For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 22 I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.  

Our Mission: LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, MAKE DISCIPLES 

THREE WAYS GOD IS HELPING DISCIPLES ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION:

WAY #1­—God’s Holy WORD

JOHN 15:7 (ESV) 
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 

WAY #2—God’s Holy SPIRIT

JOHN 15:26 (ESV) 
“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 

WAY #3—God’s Holy CHURCH

1 PETER 2:9 (ESV) 
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
