THREAD #1: No Garments (empty box)

Action: God Creates Peace

and God saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good Genesis 1:31a ESV

and the man and his wife we’re both naked and we’re not ashamed. Genesis 2:25 ESV

THREAD #2: Fig Leaves

Action: Man Breaks Peace

…and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. -Genesis 3:7b

THREAD #3: Skin Garments

Action: God Foreshadows Peace

And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. Genesis 3:21

THREAD #4: Spun Webs

Action: Man Attempts Peace

but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear… 6 Their webs will not serve as clothing; men will not cover themselves with what they make. Their works are works of iniquity, and deeds of violence are in their hands…8 The way of peace they do not know, and there is no justice in their paths; they have made their roads crooked;

THREAD #5: Filthy Rags

Action: Man Awaits Peace

We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Isaiah 64:6 ESV

THREAD #6: Shepherd’s Tunic

Action: God Promises Peace

they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. Psalm 22:18 ESV

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11 ESV

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. THREAD #7: Swaddling Cloths

Action: God Fulfilling Peace

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:7 ESV

“And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:12 ESV

THREAD #8: Grave Clothes

Action: God Accomplishes Peace

Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and shall take off the linen garments that he put on when he went into the Holy Place and shall leave them there. Leviticus 16:23 ESV

So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. John 19:40 ESV

Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. John 20:6-7 ESV

When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom, John 19:23 ESV

THREAD #9: Robes of Righteousness

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1 ESV

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV

The True Purpose for Christmas = PEACE WITH GOD
