PROVERBS #1
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, 9 for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. Proverbs 1:1-9 ESV
My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, 2 for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. 3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:1-4 ESV
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. 28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it”—when you have it with you. Proverbs 3:27-28 ESV
Three CONSIDERATIONS for Godly good:
Consideration #1: ABILITY
The capability to provide good to another person.
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Proverbs 3:27 ESV
Consideration #2: AVAILABILITY
The opportunity to provide good to another person.
Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it”—when you have it with you. Proverbs 3:28 ESV
Consideration #3: ACCOUNTABILITY
The responsibility to provide good to another person.
God holds us accountable to TRUST Him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 ESV
God holds us accountable to ACKNOWLEDGE Him.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:6 ESV
God holds us accountable to FEAR Him.
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8 ESV
God holds us accountable to HONOR Him.
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 ESV
Am I ABLE, AVAILABLE, and ACCOUNTABLE for Godly good?
