Wayne Grudem in his Systematic Theology gives a good definition of providence: “God is continually involved with all created things in such a way that He (1) keeps them existing and maintaining the properties with which He created them; (2) cooperates with created things in every action, directing their distinctive properties to cause them to act as they do; and (3) directs them to fulfill his purpose.”
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”
Big Thought: Although Mordecai and Esther can’t see any good in their current circumstances, the unseen God is at work, to bring all things together for His plan and purposes.
1. Vashti is providentially removed from being queen
2. Esther is providentially taken
3. Esther is providentially crowned queen
4. Mordecai is providentially in the right place at the right time
Esther 2:20 – Esther had not made known her kindred or her people, as Mordecai had commanded her, for Esther obeyed Mordecai just as when she was brought up by him.
