TRUE PROPHETS
FALSE PROPHETS
Matthew 7:15 (ESV) – Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Acts 20:29–30 (ESV) – I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.
FRUIT AND ROOT
Matthew 7:15–16 (ESV) – Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Matthew 7:17–18 (ESV) – So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.
THE VINE OR THE VILLAIN
Genesis 3:17–18 (ESV) – And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.
THE BAD FRUIT OF FALSE PROPHETS
Matthew 7:15 (ESV) – Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Matthew 7:21–23 (ESV) – Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
