David kept Abishai from killing King Saul, because it would be wicked to attack the Lord’s anointed.
- In the Old Testament, Priests and Kings are anointed for service as well as items that designed for worship.
Ex. 19:5-6 Now if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, you will be My treasured possession out of all the nations—for the whole earth is Mine. 6 And unto Me you shall be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to speak to the Israelites.”
1 Peter 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house a to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ

“the Anointed”: speaks of a person , a place, or an object.
The purpose of Anointing in the Old Testament was to or set apart.
In the New Testament it is seen as the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to Empower
the life of a believer.
“CHRIST” means The one.
“Christians” are followers and partakers of the Anointed one.
OIL ANOINTED TO CONSECRATE
Ex. 30:26-29 …It will be the sacred anointing oil. 26Then use it to anoint the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law, 27the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense, 28the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. 29You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy…
God’s recipe for Anointing oil (Ex. 30:22-24)
- Myrrh: Purity or
- Cinnamon: known for Sweetness: speaks of Forgiveness & Compassion.
- Calamus: “sweet flag” : Fragrance & (alabaster box).
2 Cor. 2:15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being

- Cassia: “to bend the neck in deference” : Humility, Filled & Fruitful
