We needed a Prophet so we can know who God is, his goodness, and justice.

We needed a Priest so we can approach God.

We needed a King so we can be governed by God, knowing that left alone, we are helpless

Messiah, the Hebrew word Mashiach, meaning “anointed or chosen one.”

Old Testement Promises:

Isaiah 9:6, Messiah would be a Hebrew man

Micah 5:2, born in Bethlehem

Isaiah 7:14, born of a virgin

Deuteronomy 18:18; a prophet akin to Moses

Psalm 110:4, a priest in the order of Melchizedek

Isaiah 11:1-4, a King

Isaiah 53, would suffer before entering His glory

Rejection of a Messiah

The people rejected Jesus because of unmet expectations.

The people rejected Jesus because their desire for temporary deliverance was greater than their desire for eternal hope.

Reception of a Messiah

Throughout the New Testament, we see proof that Jesus is the Chosen One: “These [miracles] are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). Jesus is the prophesied Messiah
