Sunday, July 21: Proverbs | Anger

“As the beating of cream yields butter and striking the nose causes bleeding, so stirring up anger causes quarrels.”

Proverbs 30:33

Anger is an active .

“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

James 1:19-21

The Bible speaks to what anger can lead to:

 (“Short-tempered people do foolish things, and schemers are hated.” Proverbs 14:17)

More  (“Hot-tempered people must pay the penalty. If you rescue them once, you will have to do it again.” Proverbs 19:19)

 (“People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.” Proverbs 14:29)

of the  (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

and division (Proverbs 15:18)

 (“An angry person starts fights; a hot-tempered person commits all kinds of sin.” Proverbs 29:22)

Hurt (Proverbs 12:18)

Anger is not equated with sin, but it often leads to sin.

So how do we take off anger?

  1. Put on .
