Roman Soldier

• The belt kept the tunic in place and held the sword.
  • Meant the soldier was for battle.

Strength for spiritual warfare is founded on God’s truth (Bible), Phil. 1:9-10

• Truth keeps our focus where it ought to be – God (Great Commandment).
  • Love for God drives out fear of Satan.
• There are several of truth that help us stand firm in faith.
  • Prayer
    • Prayer is clearly an element of faith throughout the Bible.
      • Prayer our heart and mind with God.
    • Be careful to pray for yourself and for others (like Paul for the Philippians).
  • Discernment
    • Sound knowledge of the Bible equips us to make decisions.
    • God’s truth helps us between truth and Satan’s deception.
  • Purity
    • As we grow in making wise decisions day by day, we grow in righteousness/purity.
    • The word used for pure means tested by the sun (without wax) – no .
    • We don’t know when Jesus will come back so we must live by faith every day.
• People who pray well, make wise decisions, and live pure lives are easy targets for Satan.

Joshua is a good example for the belt of truth, Joshua 1:5-8

• Joshua’s strength and courage for battle came from , God’s truth.

Live It Out

Are you living a life that is sincere and pure (no hypocrisy)?

• Ask God to reveal areas of your life that are not pleasing to Him.
• Read the Bible to develop your ability to make wise decisions (discernment).
