Alive in the Spirit! February 21, 2024

Q) Are you living alive or are you just staying alive?

Thought: Spiritual activity can be a “learned behavior” and learned behavior is not a spiritual alive life.

  • A true encounter with the living God makes you spiritually alive

Starts with Who is God?

Genesis 1:1 (NLT)

  • “created” means he’s the Creator!

God is the Creator

John 1:3 (NIV)

  • Everything including us!

God in three forms or Persons.

  1. Father: God as a loving father: Caring for His children: A spiritual being.
  2. Son: Jesus – God in human form: Son of God
  3. Holy Spirit: The Spirit of God.
    1. God’s presence & his power
    2. God in action as an active force
    3. A divine person, with a mind, emotions, and a will.

What does it mean to walk in the Spirit?

Living dependent on the Holy Spirit’s power to

  1. Grow in Godliness.
  2. Obey God’s Commands,
  3. Fellowship with God.

The Bible uses shocking language Two types of people in this world:

Dead and Alive.

Physically: pretty obvious

Spiritually?? cloudy

Ephesians 2:1-4 (NLT)

Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

Thought: Being spiritually alive is not about a feeling of vibrancy. It’s not simply about going to church. It’s about having what the Bible calls fellowship with God. We enter into this fellowship by acknowledging that we were dead in sins and need a savior. When we do this, by faith, we receive spiritual life and are granted fellowship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Then we can live Alive as God intended for us.

How do we do this?

    • God in action as an active force

God’s salvation is a two-prong approach:

Romans 4:5 (NLT)

  1. Sanctified: Practical side: God slowly forming you to a new, Alive person! This involves a process.
