Priority Alignment                                           October 12, 2025

Today: Priority Alignment!

• Identity & Truth: Answered “Who Am I.” what’s on the inside!
• Priorities: Answers “Who Is First?” What I seek on the outside/

If your priorities are aligned with God’s absolute truth, so are you! If not, then you’re not!

Priority: Something treated more important than anything else.

• Latin “prioritas”: It takes precedence.
• It’s Valued; but more importantly, it takes precedence!

A priority isn’t just something we value — it’s something we place above everything else. Priorities are the visible proof of what your heart values the most.

Show me someone’s priorities, and I’ll show you, their God.

Theological Insight:

• Priorities shape your thoughts, determine your decisions and claim your devotion. Priorities reveal your lordship.

• Theology: what we believe about God.
• Priority: what we place first in our lives about God

Priority is what you do first — and who you trust the most.

We live in a world of endless options. Everyone’s chasing something — money, comfort, validation, success. But the Word of God says seek first the Kingdom.

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount: Mathew 5-7

• Blueprint for how we should live on earth.

The Culture

• The audience was mostly first-century Jews living under Roman occupation — poor, overtaxed, and uncertain about tomorrow.
• Living in survival mode.

Jesus’ message was radical:

• People anxious about daily needs — food, clothing, and survival.
• Their culture equated material stability with divine favor — if you had much, you were blessed; if you had little, you were forgotten.

Jesus talks about

• Don’t store up treasures on earth.
• You cannot serve both God and money.
• Don’t worry about your life — look at the birds and the lilies.

Jesus Realigns Priorities

Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

“seek first the Kingdom…”, two systems of pursuit:

• The world’s system (seeking things)
• God’s system (seeking Him).

Stop chasing what the world chases; start prioritizing what Heaven values.

Key Greek Words

• “Seek” means “to continually strive after.”
• “First” means “first in priority, not first in sequence.”
  • Not “do this first, then move on” — it’s “let this define everything else.”

• “Kingdom” means “the government of the Kingdom of God.”
  • Kingdom isn’t a place; it’s where God’s authority is recognized and obeyed.
• “Righteousness” means “right alignment, relationship, and standing with God.”

Jesus literally Says:

“Keep continually prioritizing God’s rule and His way of life — and everything else will fall into order.

Jesus is teaching a theology of trust and order. He’s not promising luxury — He’s promising provision through priority alignment. Jesus continually first!

• Prosperity theology: “Give to get”
• Kingdom theology: “Prioritize to Receive” (God adds to those who prioritize Him first)

The Kingdom of God doesn’t follow your priorities — your priorities must follow the Kingdom. When our inner world is ordered around His Kingdom, your outer world comes into divine rhythm.

• He said, “Seek the Kingdom and these things will be added.”
• The addition follows alignment.

Biblical Principle of Preeminence  God is not Second

Colossians 1:17-18 (ESV)

• “preeminent” is prōteuō — it means hold first place
• Jesus doesn’t compete for position — He commands it.

If Jesus is not first in your priorities, He won’t be first in your provision.

Priority Disorder Creates Spiritual Instability

James 1:7-8 (NLT)

• “double-minded”: Greek dipsuchos: two-souled.
• Living a spiritual tug-of-war: two directions, two desires, two masters.

Spiritually double-minded people may not stop believing in God…but they mix it in with some of the world too! Satan doesn’t have to make you wicked to make you ineffective — he just has to make you divided.

Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

Example: Tithe!

• One of the clearest biblical expressions of aligning priorities.
• More than money, how the Kingdom operates and how the first portion reveals what sits first in the heart.
• Genesis to Revelation, the tithe has always represented putting God first.

God used the priority of a tithe to institute what first sits on the heart of man!

Genesis 14:20 (NLT)

• First recorded act of tithing — 400 years before the Law!

The tithe didn’t start as a command — it started as a confession: ‘God, You are first.’”

• In Scripture, the “first” (rēʾšît) always carries divine ownership. God declares the first portion as holy — meaning set apart, not for common use.
• Why? Because the first portion represents the whole. When the first is set apart, the rest is redeemed.

Tithing is not about money leaving your hand — it’s about Kingdom priorities entering your life.

• Why the devil fights you so hard on it!

In God’s economy, divine priority always precedes blessing.

Malachi 3 connects tithing with alignment, not fundraising:

Malachi 3:10 (NIV)

“Test me in this”

• Your priority leads to a divine order

“see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven”

God isn’t promising “extra income” — He’s promising your priority will deliver uninterrupted access to His provision.

Divine Priority Releases the Overflow
