Living Under the Coverage of God Pastor Nicole Myers
Tied to Series Theme: Hungering for His Presence
I. The Presence of God Brings Protection
– God’s protection is a blessing that flows from His presence.
– Mothers reflect God’s nature as fierce protectors.
– True peace and deliverance are found in abiding in God, not in circumstances.
– Key declaration: There’s a power greater than chance, a presence deeper than fear, and a Protector who does not sleep or slumber.
Scripture: Psalm 91:1–7
II. Mothers as Earthly Reflections of God’s Protection
– Psalm 91:4 – Like a mother hen, God gathers and shields us.
– Mothers:
– Stand in the gap
– Stay up when we’re sick
– Pray for us when we’re far
– Fight unseen battles on our behalf
Scriptures: Psalm 91:4, Deuteronomy 31:6
III. Protecting the Most Valuable Treasure – The Gospel
– The gospel of grace is our treasure (2 Corinthians 4:7).
– We are fragile vessels, yet God protects the treasure within us.
– In seasons of pressure, God guards what He has placed in us.
Quote: “Grace is not the absence of the struggle, it is the presence of protection.” – Sarah Jakes Roberts
IV. Experiencing God’s Protection Through the Power of Agreement
– Speak the truth of God’s Word aloud—”I will say…” (Psalm 91:2).
– Power is released when we verbalize God’s promises.
– Biblical examples: David, Joshua, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego.
– Agreement with fear = bondage
– Agreement with God’s Word = freedom and peace
Question: What are you walking in agreement with—fear or faith?
Scriptures: Psalm 91:2, Joel 3:10
V. God’s Supreme Authority Over Every Threat
– God’s authority protects us even when threats form.
– Weapons may form but will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
– Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced the fire but were not burned.
– The enemy custom-designs traps to lure us.
– Be aware of his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11; Ephesians 6:11).
– Godly mothers sense danger and pray ahead of time.
VI. God Warns Us to Protect Us
– God gives warnings through:
– Others’ counsel
– Sermons
– A still, small voice
– Scripture
– Reasons we may ignore God’s warnings:
– Stubbornness
– Pride
– Deceptive appearances
– Self-will and rebellion build a wall between us and God’s protection.
VII. God Stands Between Us and the Storm
– Exodus 14:19–20 – God places Himself between us and harm.
– Sometimes our greatest miracle is what didn’t happen.
– We are invited not to take control but to take heart.
– Prayer is for communion, not control.
– God does more with our surrender than we can with control.
Scriptures: Psalms 32:7, John 16:33
Closing Encouragement
