SUMMER RECHARGE! Sermon Notes Pastor Brad Myers
Reignite Your Fire June 22, 2025
Today: Reignite Your Fire!
Recharge: refreshed, renewed, or revived….
Q) What good is being spiritually recharged if you do nothing about it?
Core Biblical Concept
A Spiritual renewal demands a spiritual response.
Being refreshed, renewed, or revived is never for personal experience alone; it’s for transformation, obedience, and mission.
James 1:22 (NIV)
Spiritual recharging is incomplete without action.
Our inward change is also for an outward purpose!
Recharging without a response is like recharging your phone and never using it again! Empowered; but useless.
Acts 20:24: Paul speaks to elders of Ephesian church in Miletus (a port city near Ephesus) (Turkey)
- Paul’s farewell address before heading to Jerusalem.
- Imprisonment and suffering await him. He’s committed!
- Compares Mission or Self-Preservation (life)!
Acts 20:24 (NLT)
Key Themes in the Verse
“But my life is worth nothing to me”
- Greek: Logos: worth, or value
- Paul: “I place no personal value on my life.”
The Apostle Paul proclaims you must dethrone self-preservation, before you walk in Spirit-mission.
Reflects Matthew 16:25
Matthew 16:25 (NIV)
“finishing the work”
- Greek: teleiōsō ton dromon: Completing one’s divinely appointed path.
- Paul life not random journey but a divinely ordained race
- Same 2 Timothy 4:7 – “I have finished the race…”
- “The Work” Implies: 3 things: Purpose, Pace, Pressure
The Apostle Paul’s focus wasn’t survival — it was completion.
“the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus” Divine Assignment!
- Paul recognized he didn’t invent his purpose — it was received.
- We aren’t recharged or reignited for us…. But for our mission!
“telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”
- Not church growth or prestige: it’s proclaiming grace.
Paul is a model of spiritual maturity:
- He sees sacrifice as privilege, not burden.
- He views ministry as stewardship, not status.
- He defines success as finishing, not starting.
Paul was a man ignited by God and determined to see the mission through, no matter the cost.
God never recharges you just to feel better — The recharging is a reigniting to continue your assignment!
Recharging is Not the Goal — Releasing Is
Mark 16:15 (NIV)
A Spiritual recharge is a reignited fire is not meant to be admired but applied.
God Lights the Fire, But We Tend the Flame
- We don’t stay on fire accidentally.
- What you don’t feed will fade.
- What you don’t stir will settle.
- What you don’t act on will dry up!
Fire is sustained by action. The evidence of a Spirit-filled life isn’t volume, it’s movement!”
Our Declaration: “Lord, I won’t just be recharged — I will be reignited and respond.
