The Power of 1: What God Can Do Through You! Sermon Notes Pastor Brad Myers
Today: The Kingdom is Unstoppable! June 9, 2024
Today: The Kingdom is Unstoppable!
- Means: Impossible to stop or prevent; unbeatable; invincible, invincible, supreme!!
Thought: When God’s power was unleashed on the day of Pentecost so was his promises and purposes. Since the Kingdom is unstoppable, unbeatable, invincible when you align your life with Christ you too are unstoppable, unbeatable, invincible.
Q) Have you ever asked yourself; “What can God Can Really Do Through Me?”
An unstoppable, unbeatable, invincible Kingdom is this:
Luke 1:37 (NKJV)
For with God nothing will be impossible.
We don’t think this way: Scripture says otherwise…
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
No power, no scheme, nothing in universe or on earth can stop Almighty God.
Psalm 91:9-11 (NLT)
If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. 11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
How does this happen?
Exodus 14:14 (NLT)
The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
We go into action..
Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)
You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
God revealed His power to Job
Job 42:2 (NLT)
“I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.
- unstoppable, unbeatable, invincible.
- Job had the Power of 1!
Talking God’s Unstoppable Purpose
Isaiah 46:9 (ESV)
remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,
- No other, none like me! Just different!
Common theme throughout the Bible
Thought: Nothing nor anyone can stop God’s purpose. When God ordains something, no human effort or opposition can prevail against it.
Example of the Apostles
Acts 5:
- Peter and the other apostles freed from prison by an angel of the Lord.
- Powerful testament that God will in accomplish His purposes.
- They continued to preach boldly proclaiming the message of life.
- Their story reinforces the idea that if God is for something, no one can possibly stop it.
Acts 9: 10-16
- When God called Paul from being the church’s persecutor to be a gospel preacher, the Lord showed him how much he would suffer for the sake of his name yet would overcome
God’s Unstoppable Purpose Was in the Beginning
- God’s plans prevail despite human intentions. Joseph Sold into slavery by his own brothers, falsely accused, and imprisoned, his journey was filled with adversity. Yet, these circumstances led to his eventual rise to power in Egypt, where he was instrumental in saving not only the Egyptian nation but also his own family from famine.
- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s image. Their miraculous preservation amidst the flames serves as a powerful testament to God’s ability to protect and deliver those who trust in Him, even in the face of certain death.
Jesus declared
Matthew 16:18 (NKJV)
…..I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
- Despite persecution, the early church grew illustrating that God’s plan for the redemption of humanity through the church could not be thwarted by any power, human or demonic.
Q) How Do You Find and Apply God’s Unstoppable Purpose
- Maintain a steadfast faith in God’s sovereignty and a trust in His ultimate authority over our lives.
Romans 8:31 (NLT)
…..God is for us, who can ever be against us?
Thought: Be fully convinced that God is in control and His purposes will prevail.
Three practical steps to get there…
1.If you’re committed to the search, you’ll find Him
Deuteronomy 4:29 (NLT)
….if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.
- How? Prayer and Scripture
2. Change what you’re doing to how God is leading.
- Your wants and needs vs. God’s desires.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart (be fully convinced); do not depend on your own understanding. (not working & doesn’t make sense!) 6 Seek his will in all you do, (search for it) and he will show you which path to take.
3. Be fully convinced that God will accomplish His purpose through us, regardless of the obstacles.
Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
…. God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
