Today: Unleashing an Unshakable Kingdom May 19, 2024

Today: New Series: The Power of 1! What God Can Do Through You!

  • Phrase: “I’m only one person?
  • Saying: “I’m only human”
  • What can I do alone

Thought: “I can’t accomplish what I want by myself.” It means you’re writing your ending before your beginning really gets started.” God sees it differently. He’s sees us as the Power of 1! Although we live in a shaken world, we can draw power by being connected to an unshakable Kingdom!

Quote: “Every person’s miracle in the Bible started off as a problem.” Pastor Andy Warren

Today: Pentecost Sunday: All About Unleashing an Unshakeable Kingdom.

What is Pentecost Sunday? What’s Pentecost?

Thought: Pentecost is the Greek name for a festival known in the Old Testament as the Feast of Weeks. In the Greek Pentecost means “fifty” and refers to the fifty days that have elapsed since Passover. (celebration of the Israelites liberation from slavery in Egypt) Basically, Pentecost was a celebration of the first harvest.

The day God poured out his power!

Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)

When the day of Pentecost came, they (each one of them) were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

  • Empowered ordinary people do extraordinary things?
  • It showed up into a shaken world and the world is still shaken.

For Christians:

Thought: Pentecost marks the beginning of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit by which people are empowered to do the work of God. It commemorates the actual birth of the church.

  • First Pentecost happened a few weeks after Jesus’ death and Resurrection.
    • After Jesus’ resurrection He had followers but no movement that could be called the Church.
  • Pentecost was the day the Church was established.
    • Spirit brought the Church into existence and empowered it.
    • Pentecost is the Church’s birthday.

John the Baptist prophetically spoke of it

Mathew 3:11 (NIV)

I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

What’s Jesus’ position?

Thought: Jesus sits in the middle between our shaken world and God’s unshakeable kingdom.

  • He’s the conduit, the bridge, that makes the connections.

Q) What is Jesus doing in the middle? Unleashing Power!

John 12:49-51 (NIV)

I have come to bring fire (power) on the earth….

  • Jesus is on earth: A shaken world.
  • Bringing power: To have dominion over a shaken world it must be from an unshakeable Kingdom.
  • Jesus was the only one holding all Kingdom power!
  • Jesus is the Power of 1…

Thought: Pentecost placed the unshakeable Kingdom power inside every believer.

Thought: Those who believe and receive that power now sit in the middle between an unshakable Kingdom and a shaken world.

  • You now have the Power of 1…
  • What will you do In the middle?

Quote: “My fear is that believers are slowly becoming more accustomed to living in shaken world than advancing on an unshakeable kingdom!” Pastor Brad Myers

Thought: The reason some believers are slowly becoming more accustomed to living in shaken world than advancing on an unshakeable kingdom is because we are more dependent on earthly things than spiritual things.

Tony Robbins: Says it’s you than can unleash the power in you!

  • That’s you reaching you…
  • Jesus Says: Unleash the unshakable Kingdom of Heaven through me!

Thought: We live in a shaken world but can still advance an unshakeable Kingdom!

Hebrews 12:28 (NLT)

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

  • We can receive a Kingdom that is unshakable & unbreakable.

Thought: This unshakable, spiritual kingdom cannot be taken from us but as we sit in the middle we can drift toward a shaken world and we don’t even realize it!

  • Wonder where the power has gone…
  • Our Power of 1

If we stay committed and don’t drift to a shaken world

John 14:12-14 (NLT)
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

  • Because I am going to be with the Father.
  • Jesus will be on the throne of heaven ruling the universe and in control! No matter how much world shaking goes on He still reigns!

Hebrews 12:26-27 (NLT)

When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.
