Church in 3D, pt 2 –
“Develop meaningful relationships while growing towards Christ-like maturity ”

Lead people to discover, DEVELOP, and display full devotion to Jesus Christ

.Develop meaningful relationships while growing towards Christ-like maturity.

Knowing the feeling of loneliness

Wanting to be in relationship with others

Knowing how horrible people can be

Church attendance in our country has decreased 30-40%

Genesis 1:26

“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.”

Genesis 2:18

“It’s not good for man to be alone”

When sin enters the world, two things happen—

1. Communion with God is broken.

2. Community with each other is tainted.

1 John 3:1

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

The church is a family…

Family can be messy at times

Family comes with privileges and responsibilities

Examples of what community looks like in the church:

“accept one another” (Rom 15:7)

“serve one another” (Gal 5:13)

“outdo one another in showing honor” (Rom 12:10)

“live in harmony” (Rom 12:16)

“comfort one another” (2 Cor 13:11)

“bear each others’ burdens” (Gal 6:2)

“forgive one another” (Eph 4:32)

“encourage one another” (1 Thess 5:11)

“pray for one another” (Ja 5:16)

“show hospitality to one another” (1 Pet 4:9-11)

“love one another as Jesus has loved you” (Jn 15:12)

John 13:35

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Church is an empowered and growing community

Ephesians 4:16

from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:11-12

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

We are not just a place with programs we are a people with a purpose.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Our church is healthiest when everyone who makes up the local church has a relationship and a responsibility.

Relationships are best cultivated in small groups.

Responsibilities are best lived out through ministry teams.

Our church is healthiest when people have moved from spiritual consumers to joyful contributors.

What gaps do I see?

Where can I add value?
