Fellowship | Made For More, Part 5

Koinonia- A partnership to the mutual benefit of those involved

Fellowship is not going to church and saying hello to people and it’s not going to a small group

Fellowship rarely happens when you are not physically going to church and it’s even more rare if you are not going to a small group.

To sum up, getting together doesn’t mean we are in fellowship, and you can’t be in fellowship if you’re not getting together.

We need to Engage in our Relationship with God

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  1. Read God’s word
  2. Do what God’s word says
  3. Spend time in prayer

When we Engage in our Relationship with God, we experience life changing fellowship with Him.

We need to Engage in our Relationship with other believers.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

  1. Consider other believers
  2. Meet with other believers
  3. Encourage other believers

We need to Engage in our Relationship with other believers.

Magnets and Bearings – When you engage with other believers after engaging in your relationship with God you get to be a part of life changing fellowship. Just like these bearings become more like magnets and impact other so do we become more like Jesus and have an impact on each other and the world around us.

Acts 2:42-47 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. An awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
