”What does my friend believe, think, or feel….

Grief

Shame

Hopelessness

What does the Bible have to say…..

God loves your child more than you do.

Psalm 139

Romans 6:23

Luke 15

You are NOT ultimately responsible for your child’s situation.

1 Peter 5:7

casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

God can and will use “Good Samaritans” to speak into your child’s life.

Pray that your wayward child looks up when they hit rock bottom.

Genuinely live out your faith for your child to see.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

How do I have meaningful conversations with this friend….

1. Remind them that God is not done writing His story.

2. Remind them that parenting is a lifelong mission.

What is one prayer that I can consistently pray for them…

Proverbs 2:1-2

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, 2 making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;

What next step do I need to take…

1. Keep praying

2. Be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus

3. Read Praying for Your Prodigal, by Kyle Idleman
