There’s Only One Solution

There’s only one solution

Ephesians 1:6-10
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and
are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who
trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven
should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to
the one you received, let him be accursed.
10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I
were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
The Gospel is only good news when we take in all of what Jesus has done for us.

Galatians 1:6-7
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and
are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who
trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in
accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in
accordance with the Scriptures,

“Jesus did the work but now you have to get to work” – The Judaizers

By grace, through faith, a gift of God.
Jesus plus nothing equals everything.
Jesus plus anything equals nothing.

Justification – right standing before God (proclamation)
Sanctification – being made holy (process)

Galatians 1:8
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we
preached to you, let him be accursed.

Stand in the gap between people who are close to us but far from God.

Ephesians 2:8-10
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is a gift of
God so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

The purpose of good works is to help point people to the validity of our good news.

Galatians 1:10
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were
still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Who am I most concerned about?
Am I more concerned about pleasing others or pleasing God?

Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can
destroy both soul and body in hell.

Why would we ever worry about pleasing others when we already have the approval of God?

Don’t complicate the Gospel

We have a problem
Jesus is the solution
Adding to the solution nullifies the cure
In Christ, God is pleased with you
You are now free to fully live for Him
