Walking Free, pt 1 – “When Grace is Not Enough”

The “just add water” cake
The “one egg” cake

We’re much more likely to accept something when we’re asked to contribute something.

Galatians 1:1-5
Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father,
who raised him from the dead— 2 and all the brothers who are with me,
To the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself
for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
5 to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Judaizers

They supplemented the Good News with their good works.

Adding a little bit of self-righteousness to God’s grace, nullifies grace altogether.

Salvation comes from Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, so that God gets the
glory alone.

3 truths that we need to continually remind ourselves:

The Gospel is from God
His grace produces peace in me
All glory is owed to Him

1. The Gospel is from God
Galatians 1:1
-Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ…

2. His grace produces peace in me
Galatians 1:4
who gave himself for our sins to deliver us…

At the core of Christianity, there is a rescue.

Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ.

If Jesus is never enough, how can we assume we will be?

3. All glory is owed to Him

Glory: “kavod” = weight

Revelation 5:11-12

Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of
many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud
voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!
