Ask Me Anything!

Different is good!

How do I deal with people who think differently than me?

You can’t change people, you can only change yourself.

Do I want to understand them, convince them, or maintain the relationship?

10 PRACTICAL TOOLS

  1. Listen before responding – James 1:19
  2. Shift from winning to understanding – Proverbs 18:13
  3. Practice patience – Col 3:12-13
  4. Respond gently – Proverbs 15:1
  5. Speak the truth in love – Ephesians 4:15
  6. Pursue peace when possible – Romans 12:18
  7. Avoid argument – 2 Timothy 2:23-24
  8. Find common ground – Acts 17:22-23
  9. Remember everyone is valuable – Genesis 1:27
  10. Pray for them – Luke 6:27-28

As Christians we should respond differently because we have an advantage.

1 Corinthians 3:16 [ESV] – “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

Fruit is the result of who you are – you can’t learn fruit

Galatians 5:22-23 [NIV] – 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Kindness = Chesed [Hebrew] = loving-kindness, steadfast love, useful to others

Ephesians 4:32 NKJV – BE kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Romans 2:4 – God’s kindness leads us to repentance.

Where could your kindness lead someone today?
