Hebrews 12:1-3
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
God is calling His Church to stay on mission. He invites us to hand over all the burdens that keeps us from our mission.
3 types of burdens we accumulate
1. The burdens .
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
2. The burdens .
Not every burden comes from life. Sometimes it comes from us.
1 Peter 5:7 NIV “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NLT “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
3. The burdens .
- Some of the burden you’re carrying is NOT YOURS.
- While we are distracted the enemy places burdens in our lives.
- Some of us have carried things for so long.
- But Jesus came to set us free.
Hebrews 12:1 Throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us
- The Lord is inviting us to hand everything over to Him.
- Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
