Pastor Mark England

Matthew 17:1-5 (CSB) After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. He was transfigured in front of them, and his face shone like the sun; his clothes became as white as the light. Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him. Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it’s good for us to be here. If you want, I will set up three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased. Listen to him!”

He only took His disciples as high as their would allow.

Luke 6:17-18 (CSB) After coming down with them, he stood on a level place with a large crowd of his disciples and a great number of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon.18 They came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those tormented by unclean spirits were made well.

These “” of Jesus wanted a miracle, and wanted the message, but had no faith in the .

Are you following Jesus because you want something , not because you are full of ?

John 6:26 (CSB) “Truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled.

Luke 10:1-2 (CSB) After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and he sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

These “followers” of Jesus were committed to for Jesus, but they weren’t as with Jesus as the Twelve.

You can preach, sing, serve, and work in the Church and still not be as with Christ as you should be. Some of us work so hard that we spend less time with the we are working for.

Then there was the .
The Twelve were the intimate group who walked, talked, and experienced with .

The most intimate group was the .

The first of the three was .
was willing to take the risks of .

Then there was .
did not have the written accolades, but he was a martyr for the sake of the . (Acts 12)

Then there was .
He was the one that Jesus loved.

These disciples, more than others, were willing to in their relationship with Jesus.

There are a lot of people who want a experience who have a relationship, approaching Jesus with an that their relationship does not garner.

In order to have a experience of Jesus, your to him must be great.

The word for ‘ in the Bible is where we get our English word ‘.’

Hebrews 1:3 (CSB) The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word…

Jesus let them see what was on the of Him – the of His person as the Son of God, Son of Man, Son of David, and God Himself.

Luke 9:32 (CSB) Peter and those with him were in a deep sleep, and when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were standing with him.

Are you asleep while the glory of God is being in your life?
Are you the times that you are in?
!

The is being revealed even to us today.
So if you’re going through great struggle, don’t .

2 Corinthians 4:17 (CSB) For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.

If you , you’ll realize that it’s in those moments that the glory of God is revealed.

When the disciples woke up, they not only saw Jesus in all of His glory, but they also saw and standing with Him.

Moses was there to represent that Jesus was the fulfillment of the of Moses.
, , and that took the people out of slavery and bondage.

Matthew 5:17 (CSB) “Don’t think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

Elijah was there to represent that Jesus was the fulfillment of what the had spoken.
Elijah was raising people from the dead, shutting up the heavens from rain, and multiplying flour to make bread… in the New Testament?
Elijah was one who represents Jesus, but is also the head of the . Jesus is the fulfillment of the and the .

In this peek-a-boo moment, Jesus takes the disciples from to .

While Peter was talking about building tabernacles, a cloud descended. God didn’t need him to build something . Out of the cloud, God says, “This is my Son whom I am well pleased. .”

We are in the , and we are experiencing the labor pains of Christ’ return… .

God wasn’t looking for them to build ; He wanted them to be .

Jesus has shown us enough.
We should to Him in our , our , our
Jesus is going to … You don’t want to be caught off guard because you’re not .
