Blessed:
Five Promised Blessings

Key thought—The Bible is clear that God delights in blessing us, but nearly every promise of blessing is conditional upon our faith and obedience.

(Deuteronomy 28:1–3) And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 3. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God…

(Psalm 112:1 ESV) Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments!

Our families…

(Psalm 112:2)  His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Our finances…

(Psalm 112:3) Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

(Deuteronomy 28:12)The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

(Malachi 3:8–12) Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions.  9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.  10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.  11 I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts.  12 Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.

Our relationships…

(Psalm 112:4-6) Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. 5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever.

(Psalm 133:1–3) Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.

Our emotions…

(Psalm 112:7-8) He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.

(1 Peter 5:7) casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Our purpose…

(Psalm 112:9-10) He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor. The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish!

(2 Corinthians 9:8–9) And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.  9 As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”

(Ephesians 2:10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
