Week 02: Mary & Martha

(Luke 10:38-42) As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.  40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

The greatest enemy to the life you want may be the life you’re living.

01: Be in the moment.

(Ephesians 5:15-16)  Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity …

02: what is most important.

(Philippians 3:7-8 NLT)I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.

03: Sense God’s and his voice.

(John 4:4) Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

(John 10:27) My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

(Psalm 27:4 NKJV) One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life …

(Revelation 3:20) Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
