Jeremiah 31:17 (ESV) 17 There is hope for your future, declares the Lord…
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV84) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Two Errant Views of Your Future
—You see your future as bleak or hopeless because of your life circumstances.
—You see your future as good and secure because of your life circumstances.
What must I do to realize God’s best future for me?
1. Believe God and his promises.
Hebrews 3:19 (ESV)
19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
2. Trust God, that the future he has for you is your best future.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Hebrews 11:8 (NIV84)8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
3. Fight for your future.
1 Chronicles 14:8, 11 (ESV)8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. 11 And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David struck them down there. And David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood.” Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.
Baal-perazim—Lord of the breakthrough!
4. Keep moving.
Ruth 2:3 “So she departed and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers; and she happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz “
5. Prophecy your future.
Proverbs 18:21 (ESV) 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
6. Deal with any sin or weight that’s holding you back.
Hebrews 12:1 (ESV)1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
7. Know deeply that God is for you, not against you.
A. God will fill your future with his good plans.
Luke 12:29–32 (NLT)
29…Don’t worry about such things. 30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. 31 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. 32 “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
B. God will fight for you!
Psalm 30:1 (NLT)1 I will exalt you, Lord, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
C. God will finish his plan in your life.
Philippians 1:6 (NIV84)6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
D. God will never fail you.
Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Fear Not For Your Future…I Am Your God!
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV) 10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
I am your God — above you
I am with you — beside you
I will help you — surrounding you
I will strengthen you — in you
I will uphold — under you
