Untapped Power
(John 10:10) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
✓ Feast of Passover (Salvation)
✓ Feast of Pentecost (Gift of Holy Spirit)
✓ Feast of Tabernacles (Second Coming of Jesus)
(Acts 2:1-4) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
(Acts 2:38-39) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
(Acts 19:1-6) While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”… 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
1. The Holy Spirit gives me power to live .
(1 Peter 1:14-16) As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
(2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT) And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
(Galatians 5:19-25) The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
(Romans 8:5-6) Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
2. The Holy Spirit gives me power to live .
(1 Corinthians 12:7 NLT) A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
(1 Peter 5:8) Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
3. The Holy Spirit gives me power to live .
(1 Corinthians 2:4-5) My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
(Luke 10:19) I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy…
(Luke 24:49) I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.
(Luke 11:13) If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
