CORE: Relevant Ministry

May 12, 2024   /   Fellowship Bible Church

Relevant: closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered; appropriate to the current time, period, or circumstances.

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”    2 Peter 1:5-8

Relevant Ministry:

  1. on an intimate knowledge of Christ.

And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son.”
Ephesians 4:11-13a

  1. Christ in thoughts and actions.

“… growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.”
Ephesians 4:13b

  1. false teaching.

“Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.”
Ephesians 4:14

  1. of a maturing faith in Christ.

“But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part.”
Ephesians 4:15-16

  1. Practices over preference or comfort.

“Although I am free from all and not anyone’s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone, in order to win more people. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win Jews;  to those under the law, like one under the law—though I myself am not under the law—to win those under the law. To those who are without the law, like one without the law—though I am not without God’s law but under the law of Christ—to win those without the law. To the weak I became weak, in order to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that I may by every possible means save some. Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.”
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
