Exodus 17

If you haven’t noticed it yet, you should come to realize the Lord leads in our journey by .

Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel journeyed by stages from the wilderness of Sin, according to the command of the Lord, and camped at Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink. Exodus 17:1 NASB

We should always be conscious of the truth: The of God’s child is top priority.

That is why we will come to Rephidim. There are to be learned here for all true pilgrims.

Here We Learn The Of Our Ability.

It is easier to learn how to be than how to be .

Accept it – the of man and woman is with pride.

But can the ax boast greater power than the person who uses it? Is the saw greater than the person who saws? Can a rod strike unless a hand moves it? Can a wooden cane walk by itself?  Isaiah 10:15 NLT

Don’t you think Moses was in of this peril?

“Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God by failing to keep His commandments, His ordinances, and His statutes which I am commanding you today; otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, and you build good houses and live in them, and when your herds and your flocks increase, and your silver and gold increase, and everything that you have increases, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; He who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions, and its thirsty ground where there was no water; He who brought water for you out of the rock of flint. In the wilderness it was He who fed you manna which your fathers did not know, in order to humble you and in order to put you to the test, to do good for you in the end. Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’  Isaiah 10:15 NLT

So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “What am I to do with this people? Exodus 17:4a NASB

So Jesus, after raising His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread so that these people may eat?” But He was saying this only to test him, for He Himself knew what He intended to do.   John 6:5-6 NASB

At Rephidim we need to be to God. Here we learn:

  • His .

God is always mindful of His .

  • the reality of His .

Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, so that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.  Exodus 17:6 NASB

  • of God’s secret .

God’s cupboards are in very places.

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,  “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NLT

In earlier days Moses would never have thought of a except by .
