An Undeserved Commission
Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you.”
Jonah 3:1-2
1st God Jonah!
God’s promises matter:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5c)
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2 a
2nd God to Jonah!
3rd God Jonah!
Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” Jonah 3:1-2 NIV

God in His forgives our sins, but God in His determines that we shall what we , and the harvest can be .

An Unparalleled Awakening! (3:3-10)
- Jonah’s to Ninevah!
Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” Jonah 3:3-4
In Scripture, the number seems to be with testing or judgement.

Jesus (Mark 1:12-13)
The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. Jonah 3:5
- Ninevah’s to God! (vs. 5-9)
- God’s !
When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. Jonah 3:10
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign; and so no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as Jonah was in the stomach of the sea monster for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.The men of Nineveh willstand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemnit because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
