Joshua 4

Memorial Day – a day for relaxing, getting together w/ family and friends.

The original concept of Memorial Day began in 1868 as a way to honor those who died in the war between the states.

As time passed, the observance was expanded in include the dead of all American wars.

Its purpose? That we would never forget those who paid the highest price for our freedoms.

A memorial is a testimony, something that speaks or testifies to a truth.

In Joshua 3-4, God delivers on His promise to bring Israel into the Promised Land, and he didn’t want Israel to forget what He had done for them.

So He instituted reminders (memorials) to cause them to remember their relationship with Him and what He had done for them (Joshua 4:1-9).

God includes memorials in our lives, to remind us of what he has done, and so we would never forget.

We are prone to FORGET

ENCOURAGES us when times are tough

Remind us that what God has done and can still do, He will do if we follow Him

WITHOUT CONDITIONS

Joshua 6 – Jericho!

God has promised to accomplish HIS PLAN for you

To accomplish His plan, God will overcome obstacles for you HIS WAY!

And in the process, He will create NEW MEMORIALS in you and for you
