Topic #1: Women Pastors

Complementarianism

men and women are created equal in their being, value, and personhood, yet they complement each other with different roles and responsibilities as image-bearers of God as lived out in marriage, family life, and in the church.

Gen. 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God

he created him; male and female he created them.”

Gen. 2:18 “God said it is not good that man should be alone.

I will make him a helper fit for him.”

Egalitarianism

men and women are created equal in their being, value, and personhood. There are no unique roles for men in the home and church. Men and women have interchangeable roles and adhere to mutual submission toward each other.

Gen. 3:16 “Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.”

Gal 3:28 “There is no longer a division between Jew and Greek, slave or free and there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ.”

1 Cor 11:3 “The head of man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband and the head of Christ is God.”

Headship: one who is responsible to the ground for others to be heathy, grow and flourish.
