INTRODUCTION:

 

What if Jesus showed up in church today?  What would it be like?

 

 

 

 

Jesus is the over everything everywhere.

 

 

 

 

Matthew 28:18 (NIV)Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

 

 

 

 

Jesus is .

 

 

 

 

The Devil has over the Lord! 

 

TEXT:

 

Mark 1:21-28 (NIV) ²¹ They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.²² The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.²³ Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,²⁴ “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

²⁵ “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”²⁶ The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

²⁷ The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”²⁸ News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

Highlights:

The word “” is found 10 times in Mark.

 

 

 

THREE WAYS JESUS HAS ALL AUTHORITHY: 

 

1.

 

 

Mark 1:21 (NIV) They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.

 

 

Mark 1:22 (NIV) says, The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.

1 John 3:8 (NIV)The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

 

 

Mark 3:11-12 (NIV) Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”¹² But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.

 

 

Mark 5:6-8 (NIV) When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.⁷ He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?In God’s name don’t torture me!”⁸ For Jesus had said to him,“Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”

James 2:19 (NIV) You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

Matthew 8:29 (NIV) “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”

 

 

Mark 5:7 (NIV)“What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!”

CONCLUSION:

 

1 John 4:4 (NKJV)Greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world.
