CHRISTIAN’S IN CONFLICT Pt. 2
1 Corinthians 6:1-11
1 Corinthians 6:1 (NLT) When one of you has a dispute with another believer, how dare you file a lawsuit and ask a secular court to decide the matter instead of taking it to other believers!
Psalm 119:105 (NIV) Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
2 Timothy 3:15-16 (NIV) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NKJV) ”All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, THAT THE MAN OF GOD may be COMPLETE, thoroughly equipped [outfitted] for every good work.”
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
TEXT:
1 Corinthians 6:1-11 (NIV) If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people? 2 Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 4 Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church? 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6 But instead, one brother takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!
7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:7b-8 (NIV) Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
THREE REASON WHY NOT TO SUE A FELLOW CHRIST FOLLOWER:
1.
1 Corinthians 6:2a (NIV) Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world?
Revelation 2:26b (NIV) To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations…
1 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV) And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
1 Corinthians 6:3a (NIV) Do you not know that we will judge angels?
1 Corinthians 6:3b (NIV) How much more the things of this life!
1 Corinthians 6:7 (NIV) …completely defeated… (NKJV) …utter failure…
1 Corinthians 6:7 (NIV) …completely defeated… (NKJV) …utter failure…
2.
1 Corinthians 6:7-8 (NIV) The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
Ecclesiastes 5:10-12 (NIV) Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. 11 As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them? 12 The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether they eat little or much,
but as for the rich, their abundance permits them no sleep.
Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 (NIV) I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure.
My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. 11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.
Romans 12:19 (NIV) Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Philippians 4:11 (NIV) I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
1 Corinthians 6:7 (NIV) The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
3.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NIV) 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:11 (NIV) And that is what some of you were.
1 Corinthians 6:11b (NIV) But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
CONCLUSION:
PRAYER:
ALTAR:
Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV) 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
