A House of Prayer Is…

 

1. Is a house where the church prays together.

 

Psalms 141:2 ESV: Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!

Psalms 141:2 MSG: Treat my prayer as sweet incense rising; my raised hands are my evening prayers.

Leviticus 6:13 ESV: Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; It shall not go out.

2. Is a house where prayer is essential.

3. Is a house with all types of prayer.

A. Pray with supplication.

Supplication is a prayer of need and a prayer of request with specific petitions. It is a steadfast, continuous, unceasing prayer that refuses to let go.

Esther 7:2 NKJV: And on the second day, at the banquet of wine, the king again said to Esther, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!”

Ephesians 6:18 NKJV: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

Luke 18:1 NIV: Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

Delays in Prayer

Daniel 10:12 NKJV: Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

B. Pray with intercession.

 

To intercede is to mediate, stand in, or identify with. It is to make a petition on behalf of another, to stand in the gap and build a hedge around a person, family, business, church, school, state or nation.

Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV: “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

Isaiah 59:16 NKJV: He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; and His own righteousness, it sustained Him.
