Do You Love Me?

JOHN 21:15-17 NIV 

15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love (agapa) me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love (phileo) you.”Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love (agapa) me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love (phileo) you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you (phileo) love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love (phileo) me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love (phileo) you.”

4 TYPES OF CHRISTIANS

1. THE ‘CHRISTIAN ’

Matt 15:8 NIV These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me

2. THE CHRISTIAN

Ephesians 2:8 NIV For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

3. THE ‘’ CHRISTIAN

John 6:26 NLT Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs.

4. THE CHRISTIAN

Deuteronomy 10:12 NIV …What does the Lord your God ask of you but to FEAR the Lord your God, (respect – Not cowering before him as a child who cowers to an abusive fear – A reverence, which meant to take his words seriously) to walk in OBEDIENCE to him, (follow his advice because you reverence and respect him) to LOVE him, and to SERVE the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul…

John 21:18 NLT “I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me.”
