KNOW YOUR TARGET

A season of Prayer and Intercession Week 3

Pastor Candace Cortez

Gap standing, Hedge building, and Cup filling

Is the next revival on the wave of your prayers?

What am I even doing when I pray intercession prayers?

putting yourself in the breach that the enemy is trying to use to invade and establish his authority.

Exodus 32:11-14 NIV 11 But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’”14 Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

Scripture teaches us that God changes his mind for three reasons:

(Amos 7:1-6),

(Jeremiah 18:3-11 Jonah 3:9-10)

(Duet 32:36, judges 2:18, 2 Samuel 24:16)

It’s time to stand in the Gap!

– building spiritual walls around people, houses, marriage, children, churches, cities and regions.

A broken down hedge allows spiritual destruction

Psalms 80:12-14 NIV

12 Why have you broken down its walls
so that all who pass by pick its grapes?
13 Boars from the forest ravage it,
and insects from the fields feed on it.
14 Return to us, God Almighty!
Look down from heaven and see!
Watch over this vine,

Cup Filling –  Our prayers can fill the cup of mercy, not wrath for our people.

Revelation 5:8 NIV

And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of Gods people.

Revelation 8:3-5 NIV

Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all Gods people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of Gods people, went up before God from the angels hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

Habakkuk 2:16 NIV

You will be filled with shame instead of glory.
Now it is your turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed!
The cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you,
and disgrace will cover your glory.

(Revelation 16:19, 17:4, 18:6 )
