Common Sex Myths

  •   Myth #1: God isn’t down with us gettin’ down.

  •   Myth #2: The Bible doesn’t have much to say about sex except, “Don’t do it!”

  •   Myth #3: Sex is no big deal.

  •   Myth #4: Sex is the most important deal.

  •   Myth #5: Everyone is doing it.

  •   Myth #6: Anything goes between two loving, consenting adults.

  •   Myth #7: You need to follow your heart when it comes to your sexuality.

The Power of Sexuality

  • Your sexual drive is a : it can be used for blessing or for curse.

    Pr 5:15-21 NIV
15 Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.
16 Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares?
17 Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers.

  • Your sexual drive needs to keep it from destroying your life.

    Pr. 6:27-29 NIV
27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?
28 Can a man walk on hot coal without his feet being scorched?
29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.

The Bible’s Boundary Line:

Any sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman is immoral and sinful.

What are we to do?

  1.  Run!

    1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV
    Flee
from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

  2. Fight!

    Colossians 3:5 NLT
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

  3. Protect!

    2 Timothy 2:21 NLT
If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
