Secret Lives, Lies, and Sins | Pastor Tim Howard

Ephesians 5:8-12 NIRV: At one time you were in the dark. But now you are in the light because of what the Lord has done. Live like children of the light. The light produces what is completely good, right and true. Find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the acts of darkness. They don’t produce anything good. Show what they are really like. It is shameful even to talk about what people who don’t obey do in secret.

How God Sets Us Free From Darkness

1. God allows you to get caught.

Luke 12 NIRV: Everything that is secret will be brought out into the open. Everything that is hidden will be uncovered.

1. God tells us to confess our sins.

1 John 1:9 NIRV: But God is faithful and fair.If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure.

1. God uses the consequences of our sins to discipline us.

Hebrews 12:11 NIRV: No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

1. Jesus becomes your advocate.

1 John 2 :1 NLT: My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

1. God gives new strength to start walking.

Isaiah 40:31 NLT: But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
