The Great Commission

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

1. Make disciples, Baptize, Teach

Restrictions to God’s Commission:

1. I don’t talk so good – Moses.

“Moses said to the Lord, O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” Exodus 4:10

2. I’m no one special – Gideon.

“The Lord turned to him and said, Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you? But Lord, Gideon asked, how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” Judges 6:14-15

3. I’m too young – Jeremiah.

“Ah, sovereign Lord, I said, I do not know how to speak: I am only a child.” Jeremiah 1:6

4. I’m too old – Abraham.

“God also said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.  Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” Genesis 17:15-17

5. My past disqualifies me – Paul.

“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.” 1 Timothy 1:13

What’s My Part – Parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30)

1. We are created to serve.
2. We are expected to serve.
3. We are rewarded when we serve.
