TWO APPROACHES TO LIFE

Created to Give (Money Heart Talk) Week 1

Pastor Candace Cortez

Scripture demonstrates many patterns

SINGALONGS!

Money Money Money Money….

-The Ojays

the best things in life are free,

but you can give them to the birds and bees

She take my money when I’m in need

Yeah, she’s a triflin’ friend indeed

way over town

that digs on me

She works hard for the money

So hard for it, honey

She works hard for the money

So you better

WE ARE CREATED TO GIVE; just as God does with us

Being generous isn’t necessarily what you give, but the behind the giving.

TWO APPROACHES TO LIFE

John 12:1-8 NKJV

Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. 2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. 4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. 7 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial. 8 For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”

Life is boiled down to two approaches to life. Those who live life for themselves and those that live for God.

JUDAS

Those who are unwilling to give, are usually the most cynical of the giving of others.

The greatest enemy of generosity is selfishness.

God called Judas out in Grace, as He still does with us.

Matthew 6:19-21 MSG “Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.

Our time on earth is short, so we invest in ETERNITY!

MARY

John 12:3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.

A generous heart is a sign of a grateful heart.

Ephesians 2:4-6 NLT But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

God rewards a generous heart

Mathew 26:10-13 NLT I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.”

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NLT

“Remember This—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others
